The Flair Hair (patented) product, which is essentially a visor type hat with spiky hair on top, was launched in the US in 2008, selling initially into golf shops and then into the collegiate sports sector. It has been shown on national US TV and has received many celebrity endorsements, usually involving them being pictured with a Flair Hair hat on. One celebrity example was the actor Bill Murray sporting a Flair Hair hat at the US PGA Golf Tour in 2009. These PR and other promotional activities have helped to raise the profile the product and rapidly increase sales into the novelty and gift markets. Sales have now extended into the major sports and have become extremely popular with basketball and football fans across America.
Nick Comer (Managing Director of Rosetta Trading) came across the product by chance and immediately saw the potential to sell products into the UK sporting markets. He quickly set up meetings with the US owners of the products and subsequently signed up as the sole UK distributor. In March 2009, Nick achieved his first product sales in the UK with an order from Golf division, which was followed by a number of small volume orders into the golf and gift markets. With many exciting opportunities for the core product and potential variations, Nick decided to seek external assistance to ensure that he had a robust business plan in place and prepare the business for rapid growth.
